How Your Information Is Used

PRIVACY & ETHICS

I only collect the information I need to provide counselling safely and ethically. This may include your contact details, brief notes to support our work, and any information you choose to share with me.

I do not share your information with anyone else unless:

  • you give explicit consent, or
  • I am legally or ethically required to do so for safety reasons.

All information is stored securely and handled in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Your Privacy Matters

Ethical Practice

Your privacy is deeply important to me. Anything you share in counselling is treated with care, respect, and confidentiality. My aim is to create a space where you feel safe to talk openly, knowing your information is protected.

I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and work in line with the BACP Ethical Framework. This means I am committed to:

  • working safely and professionally
  • maintaining clear boundaries
  • acting with integrity
  • putting your wellbeing at the centre of our work
  • engaging in regular supervision to ensure safe, ethical practice

Confidentiality

What you share in our sessions remains confidential. There are only a few rare situations where I may need to break confidentiality — for example, if there is a serious and immediate risk of harm, or if required by law. If this ever became relevant, I would always explain the situation clearly and sensitively.

Your Rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

  • request access to the information I hold about you
  • ask for corrections if something is inaccurate
  • request deletion of your information (within legal and ethical limits)
  • raise concerns about how your data is handled

If you ever have questions about how your information is managed, you’re welcome to ask at any time

Online & Telephone Counselling

I take steps to ensure your privacy during online and telephone sessions. This includes using secure platforms, working from a private space, and encouraging you to choose a quiet, confidential place where you feel comfortable.
