About Me
I’m glad you’re here. Reaching out for support can feel like a big step, and my aim is to make this space feel calm, steady, and genuinely human from the moment you arrive.
About Me
I’m Lorraine Owen, BSc (Hons), MBACP, an integrative/person‑centred cored counsellor offering online and telephone sessions. My work is rooted in warmth, compassion, and the belief that everyone deserves a place where they can be heard without judgement.
I am a qualified counsellor, I hold both a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and a BSc (Hons) Degree in Psychology and Counselling, in addition to various CPD certificates in areas such as Bereavement, working with At Risk clients, REWIND therapy and work related stress.
Why I Became a Counsellor
My counselling journey began in 2018 when I volunteered as a Bereavment support officer with a well known charity, by that time I already had some counselling qualifications, but seeing clients on a weekly basis confirmed my path to me. Since then, I have gained full qualifications and gained a First Class Honours Degree in Psychology and Counselling from the Open University.
The Inner Keep was born from a simple but powerful idea: that everyone needs a safe inner space — a place of grounding, protection, and clarity when life feels overwhelming. Over the years, I’ve seen how transformative it can be when someone finally has room to breathe, reflect, and speak freely.
Creating that kind of space for others is at the heart of why I do this work.
My Approach
My counselling style is person‑centred and integrative, which means I tailor our work to you rather than expecting you to fit into a rigid method. I am trained in various counselling techniques including CBT.
You set the pace.
You choose what feels important.
My role is to walk alongside you — steady, present, and attuned — while you explore whatever you’re carrying.
Clients often describe sessions with me as:
- warm
- grounded
- collaborative
- gentle
- approachable
What Sessions Feel Like
Counselling with me isn’t about being analysed or told what to do. It’s a space where you can:
- untangle your thoughts
- explore difficult feelings safely
- understand yourself more deeply
- reconnect with your strengths
- find clarity and steadiness
Some people come with a clear focus. Others simply know something doesn’t feel right. Both are welcome.
Who I Work With
I support adults experiencing a wide range of challenges, including but not limited to:
- anxiety and worry
- low mood or feeling stuck
- stress and overwhelm
- low self‑worth
- grief and loss
- life transitions
- relationship difficulties
- feeling disconnected or unsure of yourself
You don’t need to have everything figured out — we can explore things gently together.
